We are looking forward to a great middle school track season! Our first practice will be on Tuesday, April 2nd.  Middle School Track practices Monday through Friday, with Fridays being optional for 6th graders.  Each practice will be from 3:00 - 4:35 PM at the middle school.  Regular attendance at practice is expected.  Students will need to be picked up promptly at 4:45.  If for some reason an athlete is not able to attend practice they must have a note from their parents when they return.  If students have two unexcused absences from track practice, they will not be allowed to participate in events at the following meet.

If track is canceled, the middle school will make an announcement before the 7th hour and also update the activities hotline at 507-645-3559 by 2:00 PM.  A Schoology message will also be sent out to the track members.  Students should follow their routine pick-up from school on those days (bus, walk, car, ect.).

Our goal for middle school track is to expose students to a wide variety of track events and to provide opportunities for students to be supportive team players.  Athletes are to compete with their individual times and try their best to reach personal goals.  There may be occasions when not every athlete is able to compete in their preferred events.  As a member of the track team, you may not always be in the event of your first choice.  Please be flexible with the decisions your coaches have to make and try new experiences.

All student athletes need to dress appropriately for practice and meets.  Parents, please help us by encouraging your children to dress in layers.  It is easier to take a layer off if it is needed.  T-shirts, shorts, and athletic shoes are required.  The coaches also strongly encourage our student athletes to bring their own water bottle with their name clearly marked on it.

The track and field events are:  Hurdles, Distance running, Sprinting, Long Jump, High Jump, Relays, Shot Put, and Discus.
