We are the local robotics team at Northfield High School. We are part of a larger, international organization called FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), whose goal is to promote the exploration of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) by hosting middle and high school robotics competitions around the world.
Every year in January, we are given a new competition challenge, and are given 2-3 months to design, prototype, build, and troubleshoot a robot from scratch to compete at a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) event. At the event, we compete against 40-50 other teams to see who can use their robot to complete the challenge the best.
Our students learn a wide variety of technical and problem-solving skills, such as CAD design, metalworking, electronics, pneumatics, programming, public speaking, teamwork, and industrial safety practices. This varied set of skills allows a diverse group of high school students with a wide range of interests to participate in our team. Mentors from the engineering community assist the students and teach students the skills they need to be successful.

Sponsorship is very important to us. Support from local businesses and families help to sustain our team and foster growth. Sponsorship allows us to run our program without having to charge our members an activity fee to join. Any financial or material support is greatly appreciated by our team, and allows us to provide opportunities for our team members to grow as future engineers, programmers, metalworkers, woodworkers, marketers, and leaders.
